Muting can only occur in a safety condition. Two types of applications are envisaged:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enabling personnel access inside dangerous area during the non-dangerous part of machine cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Enabling access to material and preventing access to personnel.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"row\"  id=\"row-530445354\">\n\n\n\t<div id=\"col-84574968\" class=\"col medium-6 small-12 large-6\"  >\n\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"  >\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\n\t<div id=\"text-4099451039\" class=\"text cutom-ul\">\n\t\t\n\n<p>Example: Positioning or removal of workpiece<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the position of the tool, which is the most dangerous part, one of the two curtains (the one facing the tool <br>working area) is active whereas the other is in Muting mode to enable the operator to load\/unload the workpiece. Only the material is authorized to pass through the monitored area.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n\t<div id=\"col-950860097\" class=\"col medium-6 small-12 large-6\"  >\n\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"  >\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\n\t<div class=\"img has-hover x md-x lg-x y md-y lg-y\" id=\"image_2058201536\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"img-inner dark\" >\n\t\t\t<img width=\"800\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reersafety.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/tapis-roulant.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reersafety.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/tapis-roulant.png 800w, https:\/\/www.reersafety.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/tapis-roulant-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/www.reersafety.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/tapis-roulant-768x614.png 768w, https:\/\/www.reersafety.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/tapis-roulant-510x408.png 510w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<style>\n#image_2058201536 {\n  width: 100%;\n}\n<\/style>\n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n<\/div>\n\t<div id=\"text-2743603457\" class=\"text cutom-ul\">\n\t\t\n\n<p>The essential requirements regarding the Muting Function are described by the followings Standards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IEC TS 62046 \u201cApplication of the protective equipment to detect the presence of persons\u201d<\/li>\n<li>EN 415-10 \u201cSafety of the Machinery &#8211; automatic palletizing systems\u201d<\/li>\n<li>IEC 61496-1 \u201cElectro-Sensitive Protective Equipment\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General Requirements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Muting is a temporary suspension of the safety\u2013related function and it must be activated and de-activated automatically.<\/li>\n<li>The safety integrity level of the circuit implementing the Muting function shall be equal to that of the safety function temporarily suspended, so that the protection performance of the entire system is not adversely affected.<\/li>\n<li>Muting should be activated and de-activated only by means of two or more separate and indipendent hardwired signals triggered by a correct time or space sequence. Such that a signal fault cannot considered a muting condition.<\/li>\n<li>It shall not be possible to trigger Muting while the ESPE outputs are in the off state.<\/li>\n<li>It shall not be possible to initiate Muting by turning the device off and then on again.<\/li>\n<li>Muting shall be only activated in an appropriate point of the machine cycle, i.e. only when there is no risk for the operator.<\/li>\n<li>Muting sensors shall be mechanically protected to prevent mismatch in case of impact.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\t<div id=\"text-3303529684\" class=\"text cutom-ul\">\n\t\t\n\n<h3>MUTING: palletizers and materials handling systems<\/h3>\n<p>Requirements for the monitoring of the openings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor the load, not the pallet, otherwise the operator might go into the hazardous zone being dragged by the pallet.<\/li>\n<li>Muting time must be restricted to the actual time taken by the material to pass through the opening.<\/li>\n<li>Muting must be time-restricted.<\/li>\n<li>Sensor mismatch with effect similar to their actuation shall not allow a condition of permanent Muting.<\/li>\n<li>The configuration and positioning of the Muting sensors shall ensure reliable differentiation between personnel and material.<\/li>\n<li>The layout of the opening, the positioning of the Muting sensors and the additional side protections shall prevent personnel access to the dangerous area for all the time the Muting function is activated and throughout the time the pallet crosses the opening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore it is necessary to realise a safety system able to distinguish between:<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; The timer monitoring the 4 seconds shall be a safety-related item.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n\t<div id=\"col-941558432\" class=\"col medium-6 small-12 large-6\"  >\n\t\t<div
